Ted Anderson

Ted Anderson was a two-time All-American wrestler for the Bronchos, winning an NCAA Division I national championship in 1936 at 123 pounds to become UCO’s first-ever national titlist and then finishing second in 1937. He won three Oklahoma Collegiate Conference crowns, prevailing in 1935, ’36 and ’37.

A 1939 graduate of UCO, Anderson was a coach and teacher for nearly 35 years, spending the bulk of his career in the Edmond school system.  He was principal of Edmond Junior High and Mid-high for 20 years before retiring in 1976.

A U.S. Navy officer during World War II, Anderson is a past president of the Oklahoma Wreslting Coaches Association and served as meet director for more than 50 wrestling tournaments around the United States. 

Anderson was active in numerous civic and business organization for decades and was honored by the City of Edmond and the Edmond Public Schools when the Ted Anderson Park was named in his honor.
