Ross Dodson started 42 games at a variety of defensive positions during a stellar four-year career from 1976-79 and finished as one of the leading tacklers in school history.

He made 70 total tackles as a freshman in 1976 and came back the next year to make a career-high 115 tackles in earning second-team All-District Nine honors.

Dodson was a first-team All-District Nine selection the following season after collecting 84 tackles while adding two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. He had 112 tackles as a senior in 1979 and was a repeat first-team All-District Nine pick.

Dodson was the ringleader of a defensive unit that posted five shutouts and allowed just 8.8 points and 231.8 yards a game in his final season as UCO went 11-2 and finished as NAIA national runners-up. He ranks fourth on the school’s career lists for total tackles (381), fifth for assisted tackles (257) and 10th for solo tackles (124).
