Joining the UCO Athletic Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement is Marita Hynes, a multi-sport athlete at UCO from 1969-71 who went on to enjoy great success in the coaching ranks.

Hynes taught and coached four sports at Putnam City High School for five years before taking over as head softball coach at the University of Oklahoma.  She won 256 games and sent three teams to the World Series while with the Sooners before going on to serve as marketing and promotions coordinator and associate athletic director at OU.

Named a Distinguished Former Student at UCO several years ago, Marita is also a member of the Oklahoma Softball Hall of Fame and the OU softball complex is named in her honor -- Marita Hynes Field.
