Keith Cunningham didn’t win a state title at Mustang High School, but he captured two national championships and ended his career at UCO as the winningest wrestler in the program’s illustrious history.

Cunningham failed to qualify for the national tournament as a freshman in 1991, but he responded to that disappointment with a dominating performance during his final three years with the Bronchos.

Keith came back as a sophomore in 1992 and went 43-9 with 20 bonus-point wins en route to winning the Midwest Regional crown and claiming the 158-pound national championship in leading UCO to its first NCAA Divistion II team title.

Cunningham moved up a weight class the following season and repeated as Midwest Regional and national champion while again helping guide the Bronchos to the team title.  Keith went 36-5 with 23 bonus-point wins as a senior in 1994 in winning another regional crown and finishing as national runner-up with UCO capturing its third straight team championship.

Cunningham ended his career as the school’s all-time win leader with a 141-41 record and an amazing 73 bonus-point wins, including 45 falls that ranks third on UCO’s all-time list.  He was inducted into the NCAA Division II Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2005.
