Gene Land was a dominant force in tennis during his three- year career from 1954-56 and he finished as the most decorated player in UCO tennis history.

Land transferred to Central after one year at Oklahoma State and captured three straight Oklahoma Collegiate Conference championships while earning NAIA All-America honors all three years.

He went 21-3 and claimed the singles national championship as a sophomore and came back as a junior to earn national runner-up honors.  Land ended his career in 1956 with a second straight national runner-up finish.
