Benny Coleman was a four-year star for UCO’s powerhouse wrestling program from 1981-84, earning All-America honors four straight years while helping lead the Bronchos to three NAIA national team championships.

He overcame an early-season knee injury to win the NAIA national title as a freshman in 1981 at 167 pounds, then was a fourth-place finisher as a sophomore in 1982.

Coleman came back with a national runner-up finish as a junior at 177 pounds, then capped his career by winning the 177-pound national championship as a senior in 1984 in leading the Bronchos to the team title.  He finished 35-3 as a senior and dominated the national tournament to win the Outstanding Wrestling award.
