Alex Wright enjoyed a remarkable two-year career at Central Oklahoma, leading the Bronchos to back-to-back Lone Star Conference titles and consecutive NCAA Division II national tournament berths in going a combined 50-11.

He averaged a league-high 24.7 points a game (ninth-best in Division II) while adding 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals an outing as a junior in 1991-92 to earn first- team All-LSC and All-South Region honors as well as second-team All-America recognition. Wright was named MVP of the South Central Regional after averaging 25.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals as UCO became the first-ever LSC team to win a regional title and advance to the Elite Eight. The Bronchos finished 27-5 for the season.

Wright came back with an even better campaign in 1992-93 as a consensus first-team All-American while also becoming UCO’s first-ever NCAA Division II Player of the Year. He once again led the conference in scoring with a school-record 30.3 average that ranked second in Division II while adding 7.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.6 steals a game. UCO went 23-6 in capturing the LSC title and making it back to the national tournament.

Wright ranks fifth in career scoring at UCO with 1,637 points in just 60 games, an LSC record for a two-year player. He rates second and third in single-season points scored at UCO and owns school records for career 35-plus point games (13) and 40-plus point games (five).

For his two- year career, Wright averaged 27.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.8 steals a game while making 187 3-pointers and shooting 83.3 percent from the free throw line.
