Sheets was a four-year basketball starter for the Bronchos from 1971-75 as a 6-foot-5 forward and ranks 20th on UCO’s all-time scoring list with 1,255 points.

He was named the school’s Outstanding Freshman Athlete and was an All-Oklahoma Intercollege Conference selection his first year after averaging 14.5 points and 7.6 rebounds a game while shooting 54 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line.

Sheets overcame an early-season injury that shelved him for several games to average 9.1 points and 5.0 rebounds a game as a sophomore.  He netted 9.1 points and 5.2 rebounds a contest the following season in helping the Bronchos finish 20-9 in earning a share of the conference championship.

Sheets capped his career with a fantastic senior campaign in 1974-75, claiming All-OIC and honorable mention NAIA All-America recognition. He averaged 16.3 points and 6.0 rebounds a game while shooting 57.4 percent from the field and 81.7 percent from the line.
