Otis Delaporte was a standout on some of UCO’s best-ever football and basketball teams while starting for each of those teams in 1937, ’38 and’39 and he was also a two-year starter in baseball in 1937 and ’38.

Delaporte was a three-time first-team All-Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference pick in basketball, leading the team to an overall record of 49-18 in that span.  The Bronchos made their first-ever national tournament appearance in 1938, advancing to the second round of the NAIA Championships, and Central went back to the national tournament in 1939.

UCO won the conference championship in football three straight years and was 18-7 with Delaporte starring at end and earning all-conference honors in 1938 and ’39.

Delaporte enjoyed a lengthy coaching career after graduation, with most of his success coming at Southwestern Oklahoma.  Delaporte had a 90-52-2 record in 14 years at the football helm, winning six conference titles.
