Central Oklahoma Hosts Oklahoma Christian

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team is set to return to the diamond Tuesday for a non-conference matchup with Oklahoma Christian. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Wendell Simmons Field.
 
Central Oklahoma is 6-4 this season. The Eagles of Oklahoma City are 8-5.
 
UCO welcomes OC to Edmond looking to improve on its .296 team batting average. The Bronchos average 10.3 hits per game and 7.2 runs per game. The Bronchos have five players hitting at least .300 and six hitting at least .297. Central has produced 22 extra base hits in 10 games this season – 12 doubles, four triples, and six home runs.
 
Ryan Harrel leads the team with a .424 batting average through 10 games played. The senior outfielder has 14 hits, eight runs scored, and seven RBIs. Joe Mondragon, hitting .390, has a team-high 16 hits in 10 games played. The senior first baseman also leads the team with 11 runs scored and has six RBIs.
 
Garrett Takamatsu (.361) has 13 hits in 10 games. Brett Hopkins (.342) and Philip Scott (.317) both lead the team with eight RBIs. Kyle Crowl (.297) leads the team with three doubles.
 
Defensively, the Bronchos have a 4.71 team earned run average. UCO allows 7.6 hits per game and 5.2 runs per game. Opponents are hitting just .235 off of Central.
 
Central has a total of 111 strikeouts in 10 games. Luke Anderson leads the team with 24 Ks in 15 1/3 innings of work. Kyler Patterson (21) and Grant Larson (14) also lead the team in strikeouts and Brayden Nelson and Beaux Bonvillain also have 10 strikeouts each.
 
Oklahoma Christian boasts a team batting average of .307, averaging just over 11 hits per game and 8.4 runs per game. The Eagles have a team ERA of 5.85, with opponents hitting .276 off OC.
 
Central Oklahoma will return to MIAA play this weekend. The Bronchos visit Missouri Southern for a three-game MIAA series in Joplin, Mo. beginning Friday.
