Bronchos Fall In Opener

FORT SMITH, Ark. (Feb. 6) – Central Oklahoma fell behind early and never recovered in dropping a 12-4 decision to Arkansas-Fort Smith in the 2015 season opener here Friday night.
 
The Lions used four hits and two errors to push across six second-inning runs  in breaking a scoreless tie to take control, with UCO never getting closer than five the rest of the way.
 
"This is obviously a disappointing loss and we really played poor baseball," head coach Dax Leone said.  "We didn't throw strikes consistently and our two-strike approach at the plate was equally as bad.
 
"It wasn't what we envisioned as a team, but we get to play again tomorrow and I think we'll come out ready to go."
 
The two teams continue the three-game series with a single nine-inning game at 2 p.m. Sunday before finishing at 1 p.m. Sunday.
 
The Bronchos managed 11 hits in the contest, getting three from Josh Ingram and two apiece from Ethan Elroy and Dylan Raper.  Isaac Hellbusch hit a solo home run and Raper drove in two runs.
 
But that wasn't enough as UAFS finished with 15 hits against four pitchers, including five that went for extra bases.
