Bronchos Scheduled To Host OC Tuesday

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team is scheduled to host Oklahoma Christian Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Wendell Simmons Field.
 
The non-conference game will be the final home game of the 2021 season for the Bronchos, who hold a 20-16 record. Central Oklahoma is scheduled to finish the regular season this weekend at Northeastern State. UCO has clinched a spot in the MIAA Postseason Tournament but will travel to its to-be-determined opponent May 14-16.
 
Oklahoma Christian brings a 23-11 record to Edmond Tuesday. This will be the third game between the two schools this season. UCO won 20-0 in Edmond in March before OC won 15-7 in Oklahoma City in April. The May matchup will settle the season series.
 
Central Oklahoma is hitting .271 as a team this season, with the Bronchos averaging 6.7 runs per game on 9.1 hits per game.
 
Garrett Takamatsu leads UCO with a .385 batting average through 31 games played. Kyle Crowl is hitting .363 and has played in all 36 games for the Bronchos this season. And Philip Scott is hitting .322 and has also played in all 36 games.
 
Takamatsu leads UCO in average and on-base percentage (.489). Crowl leads the Bronchos in hits (49), home runs (nine), runs batted in (31) and walks (23). He also leads Central with a .652 slugging percentage. Scott leads the Bronchos in runs scored (34) and doubles (16).
 
Central Oklahoma has a team ERA of 5.52 through 36 games. The Bronchos allow on average 5.8 runs per game on 8.7 hits per game. UCO has 331 total strikeouts in 36 games, an average of 9.2 per game.
 
Oklahoma Christian has a team batting average of .314, registering 9.1 runs per game 10.8 hits per game. The Eagles of Oklahoma City also have a 6.59 team ERA through 34 games played, with OC allowing 7.6 runs per game on 10.2 hits per game.
