Bronchos Complete Sweep

SHERMAN, Texas (Feb. 5) --
Austin Rycroft hit for the cycle and Kevin Blue continued his weekend hot streak as Central Oklahoma battered Austin College 21-8 here Sunday to complete a season-operning three-game sweep.

Rycroft went 4-for-5 with five runs  batted in, collecting an RBI double in the first inning, a three-run homer in the second, a run-scoring triple in the seventh and a single in the ninth, while Blue finished with 11 hits in the series after going 5-for-5 with four RBI.

The Bronchos ended up with 21 hits and outscored Austin 48-11 in the series.  UCO makes its home debut Wednesday, hosting NAIA power Oklahoma City for a 2 p.m. game.

"We feel very good about our overall execution this weekend," UCO coach Dax Leone said.  "We played extremely hard all weekend and competed well."

The Bronchos took control early, pushing across eight runs in the first inning on five hits and five errors as Blue, Rycroft and Cameron Mavroulis  had RBI doubles.

Rycroft's three-run dinger in the second pushed the lead to 11-0 before Austin came back with three in its half of the inning and another three in the fifth to pull within 11-6.

UCO then put the game away with 10 runs in its next two at bats, scoring four in the sixth and six in the seventh.

Eric Garza had the big blow in the sixth with a two-run double, with Blue getting a two-run single in the seventh.

Mavroulis, Keegan Morrow, Edgar Lopez and Jared Wright all had two hits for the Bronchos.

The Bronchos used seven pitchers, with Ryan Wagner getting credit for the win after allowing just one hit in 2 1/3 innings of relief work.
