Biography

Senior standout aiming to keep his status as UCO’s No. 1 starter on the mound . . . Returned from a two-year layoff and elbow surgery to have a dominating season for the Bronchos in 2012 and figures to be even better this spring . . . Right-hander with good variety of pitches and a workhorse capable of going the distance with every start . . . Also a dangerous offensive threat who could be used at designated hitter.
 
2012:  Pitched in 13 games, all starts, and finished 8-3 with a stellar 2.58 earned run average . . . Pitched five-plus innings in eight of 13 starts and tossed four complete games . . . Struck out 61 and walked 30 in 76 2/3 innings to earn first-team All-Independents Collegiate Athletic Association honors . . . Had two nine-inning complete-game outings, scattering five hits in 4-1 win over Lindenwood and giving up six hits in 4-2 victory over Southern Nazarene . . . Threw eight shutout innings while giving up six hits and striking out seven in 1-0 win over Emporia State . . . Fanned season-high eight in 5 2/3 innings of 3-1 win over Northwest Missouri . . . Played DH in 13 games while pinch hitting in several others and batted .367 with four doubles and 13 runs batted in . . . Went 3-for-3 with lone home run of season and four RBI against Southwestern Oklahoma.
 
Juco:  Played the 2008 and '09 seasons at Arizona Western College . . . Hurled 92 innings during two years there, going 6-7 with a 5.48 ERA while striking out 68 and walking just 26 . . . Hit .265 with 10 doubles as a sophomore.
 
High School:  Three-year starter at Yuma (Ariz.) High School, earning All-State recognition as a senior.
 
Personal:  Business major . . . Names the New York Mets as his favorite professional team . . . Lists “Moneyball” as his top sports movie . . . Birthdate is May 31, 1989.
