SHERMAN, Texas (Feb. 4) –
Kevin Blue and Keegan Morrow keyed an offensive outburst that carried Central Oklahoma to a pair of lopsided season-opening wins over Austin College here Saturday.

Blue and Morrow had six hits apiece to pace the Bronchos, who rapped out 35 hits in rolling to 13-1 and 14-2 routs in the doubleheader sweep.  The two teams finish the three-game series with a single nine-inning contest Sunday afternoon.

Josh Rolan threw a complete-game three-hitter in the opener before a trio of pitchers gave up just three hits in the nightcap.

“It was a good way to start the season,” UCO coach Dax Leone said.  “We really swung the bats well and were aggressive at the plate all day and I really liked the way our pitchers threw.”

Blue went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two runs batted in during the first-game romp, with Morrow going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.

Morrow's two-run homer staked UCO to a 2-0 first-inning lead and Jared Wright had a three-run shot in a four-run third that made it 7-0.  RBI hits by Blue, Morrow and Cameron Mavroulis upped the advantage to 10-0 in the fourth and the Bronchos cruised in.

Rolan struck out 10 and walked two in his complete-game outing, giving up the lone run on a solo homer in the sixth.

UCO finished with 16 hits, getting two apiece from Wright, Tucker Brown and J.P. Maples.

The Bronchos rapped out 19 hits in the second game, with Maples going 3-for-4 with five RBI to lead the way.  Morrow also had three hits, while Blue, Brown, Wright, Erica Garza and Austin Rycroft had two each.

Austin actually led 1-0 after two innings, but UCO went ahead to stay with a four-run third as Maples had a two-run double and Blue an RBI single.  Rycroft's run-scoring single made it 5-1 in the fourth and the Bronchos broke it open with an eight-run volley win the fifth.

Maples and Cory Proctor had two run-singles in that frame, with UCO also getting RBI hits from Wright, Mavroulis and Wright.

Eric Lopez picked up the pitching win after starting and going the first four innings, giving up just one hit and one run while striking out five.  Jake Tuck gave up two hits and run in two innings of relief help before Uriah Fisher pitched a perfect seventh inning.
