PORTALES, N.M. (April 10) –
Jason Monko drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth inning and Central Oklahoma went on to a 10-7 first-game win over Eastern New Mexico in earning a Lone Star Conference doubleheader split here Saturday.

The Greyounds came back to take the nightcap 8-7, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to overcome a 7-6 UCO lead.  The two teams end the four-game series Sunday with a single nine-inning contest at 1 p.m.

Brady White keyed a 12-hit attack in the opener, going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI.  The Bronchos also got two hits each from Monko, Taylor Brown and Kade Kauk, with Kale Murphree picking up the pitching win and Austin Baker the save.

UCO jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the game as Monko, White and Ryan Schoonover all had run-scoring singles in the top of the first inning.  ENMU came back to tie it at 5-all after four innings, but the Bronchos went in front to stay in the fifth.

Arrow Cunningham and Casey Bruns were both hit by pitch to start that inning and Monko's single drove in Cunningham with the go-ahead before Kauk followed with an RBI fielder's choice that made it 7-5.

Luke Yost delivered a run-scoring double in the sixth to up the lead to 8-5, the Greyhounds got a run back in the bottom of that frame and David Walker had a pinch-hit RBI single in a two-run seventh that made it 10-6.

ENMU scored once in its final at bat to get within 10-7 before Baker got out of the inning to seal the win.

UCO trailed 5-1 after two innings of the second game, but got back in it in the third on a Yost sacrifice fly and Bruns RBI single before the Greyhounds scored once in their half of the inning to go on top 6-3.

The Bronchos scored four runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the lead, with Yost and White supplying the big hits.  Yost led off the fifth with a double and scored on White's base hit up the middle to make it 6-4, with Yost ripping a two-run double and White a run-scoring single in a three-run sixth that put UCO on top 7-6.

It was a short-lived lead, however, as ENMU came back with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth to surge in front 8-7.  Bruns had a lead-off single in the seventh, but the Bronchos couldn't push across the tying run.

White had another 3-for-4 performance to lead a 14-hit outburst, with Brown, Yost, Bruns and Kauk collecting two hits apiece.
