Biography

Returning starter set to handle the bulk of the catching duties again this season . . . Team leader and senior veteran who ranks as one of the top defensive catchers in the Lone Star Conference . . . Knows how to handle the pitching staff and owns a strong arm, able to gun down would-be base stealers with regularity . . . Should be even better with the experience gained last year and looks to be more of an offensive threat this spring.

2010:  Hit .300 with six doubles and 18 runs batted in while starting in 37 of 41 games, all at catcher . . . Made just six errors in 207 chances and threw out 23-of-66 base stealers, a healthy 34.8 percent . . . Had 10 multi-hit games and three multi-RBI outings . . . Went 3-for-3 in early-season win over Texas A&M-Kingsville and had another three-hit game against Missouri Southern . . . Ended the season with a four-game hitting streak, batting .467 (7-for-15) in that stretch.

Juco:  Played two years at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College.

High School:  Four-time All-Conference performer at Harrah High School and was an Academic All-State selection as a senior . . . Also lettered in football and wrestling for the Panthers.

Personal:  A marketing major . . . Names the Texas Rangers as his favorite professional team . . . Birthdate is Jan. 15, 1989.
