Lindsey Houran, Jaedynn Evans Earn MIAA Honors

League Setter of the Week & Defensive Player of the Week Honors Go to Central Oklahoma Standouts

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced Monday two Central Oklahoma standouts have earned Player of the Week honors following big performances on the courts last week.

Lindsey Houran is the MIAA Setter of the Week and Jaedynn Evans is the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week. Central Oklahoma went 2-0 last week, winning 3-1 on the road at Northwest Missouri State and 3-2 at Missouri Western State.

Houran set up a UCO offense that averaged 14.75 kills per set. She dished out 93 total assists in two matches, 11.63 per set through eight sets played. The sophomore from Colleyville, Texas added 25 digs, four kills, two blocks, and one service ace.

Houran had 46 assists at Northwest and 47 assists at Missouri Western. She is up to 650 assists this season and just eclipsed 2,000 assists for her career, with 2,050. That mark puts her ninth on the career list at UCO.

Evans continued her dominant ways on defense in leading No. 21 Central Oklahoma to a pair of MIAA road wins. Evans averaged 7.75 digs per set through eight sets played. She had 62 digs in two matches.

Against Northwest, she had 27 digs, then she made 35 against Missouri Western. Evans also had four assists and one ace on the week.

It's the second time this season Houran has earned Setter of the Week and the fifth time in her career. It's the fourth time this season Evans has been named Defensive Player of the Week and the third consecutive week to earn the honor. She also earned the honor four times last season.
