LEXINGTON, Ky. – Central Oklahoma's volleyball program earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award once again. UCO was also recognized as part of the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, which represents the top 20 percent of GPAs nationally by division.
 
This year marks the 13th consecutive year UCO has earned the team academic award.
 
"When we talk about building a successful volleyball program, scoreboards are only half the picture. Achieving such an incredible team GPA highlights the discipline, grit, and relentless effort our athletes bring to their education every single day," said UCO head volleyball coach Edgar Miraku.
 
"Winning on the court is exciting, but seeing this team work just as hard in the classroom proves that they bring a championship mindset to everything they do." Miraku continued, "What they accomplish academically matters just as much to me as any win on the court, and I couldn't be prouder to lead a group that sets high standards everywhere they go."
 
The AVCA recognizes collegiate and high school teams who have maintained a year-long GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
 
UCO ended the year with a grade point average of 3.7, landing them in the top 20 percent of Division II volleyball program GPAs. The Bronchos were as successful on the court as they were in the classroom this past year. Central finished with a record of 27-6 and made its second straight regional tournament appearance.
 
The Bronchos will kick off the 2026 season in Magnolia, Arkansas, against Southern Arkansas Aug. 27 and will make their home debut Sept. 10 against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
