Bronchos Bested By Missouri Southern

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team dropped its fourth-straight game Wednesday afternoon 3-1 to Missouri Southern in a non-conference game against its Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association foe.

Central fell behind early 1-0 in the top of the first inning, and was down 3-0 in the third before scoring its only run of the game in the bottom half of that inning.

"Right now our offense is struggling," UCO head baseball coach John Martin said. "I'm not upset about giving up three runs to a team like Missouri Southern, but we have to get better with the bat in our hand. We are striking out too much and leaving too many runners on base."

Ryan Lemoine took the loss on the mound after throwing five innings. Lemoine allowed four hits and walked four batters while allowing all three runs. He also struck out one batter.

J.D. Cameron was dominant in relief in keeping the Bronchos in the game. Cameron threw three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Junior Obeso added one more scoreless inning late.

The Broncho bullpen kept UCO in arm's reach, the bats though just couldn't get it going. UCO struck out at the plate 13 times Wednesday.

Kyle Miskovsky continued his hot start to the season, going 3-for-4 with an RBI double. He plated Jake Dyer in the bottom of the third after Dyer led off with a single.

Xavier Freeman, Dayne Sommer, and Anthony Alvarez each added on hit for the Bronchos.

Central is back in action Thursday. UCO will host East Central at 1 p.m. Thursday, and again at noon on Friday in the first of a doubleheader.
