UCO Falls To Tigers

ADA, Okla. (March 25) -- East Central completed a two-day, three-game sweep of Central Oklahoma here Sunday, scoring four runs in the bottom of the eight inning to hand the Bronchos a 9-5 setback.

UCO, which gave up 10 unearned runs in 8-4 and 11-10 home losses to the Tigers Saturday, allowed three more unearned runs in Sunday's defeat in falling to 15-12 on the season.

The Bronchos took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on Edgar Lopez's two-run double and then fell behind in the third when a key error led to three ECU runs.

The Tigers made it 4-2 in the fourth, but UCO came back to tie it with a single run in the fifth on J.P. Maples' sacrifice fly and another in the sixth on Austin Rycroft's lead-off home run.

ECU went back in front with a run in the bottom of the season and the Bronchos tied it again in the eighth on back-to-back doubles by Maples and Kevin Blue.

The Tigers then moved in front to stay in the bottom of that frame, using four hits to score four runs in going ahead 9-5.

Rycroft went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead a 10-hit attack, with Maples adding two hits.

UCO will be back in action next weekend when it hosts Lindenwood for a three-game series.
