WEATHERFORD, Okla. (Feb. 26) --
Big innings proved costly to Central Oklahoma here Saturday as the Bronchos dropped a Lone Star Conference doubleheader to Southwestern Oklahoma.

The Bulldogs used a pair of four-run innings to take a 9-4 victory in the first game and then scored all its runs in the second inning of a 6-5 win in the nightcap

UCO fell to 4-9 on the year and 2-7 in league play with the losses.

"It was a tough weekend for us, but that's just baseball," head coach Dax Leone said.  "The game is designed to frustrate you.  We have to do a better job just playing clean baseball as a collective unit."

The Bronchos had two key errors in helping SWOSU grab a 4-0 lead in the first inning of the opener, with UCO getting a sacrifice fly from Arrow Cunningham and an RBI single from Keegan Morrow to pull within 4-2 in the top of the second.

The Bulldogs answered right back with four more runs in their half of the second to make it 8-2 and UCO couldn't answer.

Morrow and Kevin Blue had two hits apiece for the Bronchos.

UCO had a 3-0 lead in the second game before SWOSU used its big inning to surge in front.

Morrow led off the first with a single, went to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a sacrifice before scoring on Derik Grimes' ground-out to put the Bronchos on top 1-0 in the first and Kade Kauk's two-run double made it 3-0 in the second.

But the Bulldogs came back in the bottom of that frame, hitting a pair of home runs in scoring six runs to go on top 6-3.

UCO got one run back in the sixth on Austin Rycroft's solo homer and made it 6-5 in the seventh on Ryan Schoonover's run-scoring single, but SWOSU hung on.

Aaron Rosborough had a dominating pitching outing in the loss, coming on after the Bulldogs had taken the 6-3 lead to throw 6 2/3 innings of no-hit relief, striking out nine and walking three.

The Bronchos return to action with a single nine-inning game at Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
