EDMOND (March 5) -- Casey Bruns drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in the winning run in a first-game victory as Central Oklahoma earned a Lone Star Conference doubleheader split with Southwestern Oklahoma here Friday.

Bruns' walk gave the Bronchos a wild 12-11 win in the opener before the Bulldogs came back to take the nightcap 10-8.  UCO (6-6 overall, 4-6 in the LSC) and SWOSU (12-7, 9-4)  meet for another twinbill Saturday in Weatherford.

The Bronchos looked in control in the first game with a 10-3 lead entering the top of the seventh, but SWOSU exploded for eight runs behind a pair of home runs in surging in front 11-9.

UCO rallied in its final at bat, Kade Kauk's one-out single starting the one-out rally.  Tucker Brown followed with a single and then Nate Mitani was hit by pitch to load the bases.  The Bronchos then got the tying and winning runs without a hit as Taylor Brown was hit by pitch to score Kauk and make it 11-11 before Bruns drew his walk to score Tucker Brown with the winning run.

Ryan Schoonover had a two-run double and UCO also got a pair of run-scoring hits from Arrow Cunningham in building its big lead.

The Bronchos finished with 12 hits, getting two each from Taylor Brown, Schoonover and John Bryant.  Kauk earned the pitching win in relief.

UCO trailed 5-1 after two innings in the nightcap, but got a two-run homer from Schoonover in the third to make it 5-3 only to see the Bulldogs go up 7-3 in the fourth.

The Bronchos rallied again with three runs in the bottom of that frame as Jordan Mullin had a two-run single, but SWOSU made it 10-6 in the seventh and held on.
