Central Oklahoma Head Coach Steps Down Following 10-Year Stint

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma head baseball coach John Martin resigned from his position, the athletic department announced Monday, following a successful 10-year stint with the UCO baseball program.

"UCO appreciates Coach Martin and the countless hours he has poured into the Broncho baseball program over the past 10 years," UCO Vice President for Athletics Stan Wagnon said. "He leaves the program in great shape for the next leader to come and continue building a program that competes annually for championships. We wish him the best in his future endeavors."

Martin was hired in 2015 and won more than 300 games at Central from the 2016 season through 2025. Just the fourth coach in the previous 60 years, Martin guided Central Oklahoma to a 318-181-1 record over the past 10 seasons.

UCO won the 2018 MIAA regular season title, earning the first conference championship as a member of the league. The Bronchos also won the 2025 MIAA Baseball Championship title, earning an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship with the postseason league title.

Martin led UCO to five national tournament appearances, including three straight from 2017-19, and in each of the past two seasons. The Bronchos reached the Central Regional final in 2017 and 2019.

Plans for identifying the next head coach will be announced in the near future.
