SAN ANGELO, Texas (March 19) – Slumping Central Oklahoma dropped a Lone Star Conference doubleheader to Angelo State here Friday, losing 13-1 and 9-2.
The Bronchos have lost seven straight to fall to 7-13 on the year and 5-13 in league play. UCO and the Rams (18-13, 12-10 LSC) meet for another twinbill at 1 p.m. Saturday.
UCO managed just four hits in the opener, getting its lone score in the seventh on an RBI single by Casey Bruns.
The Bronchos took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of the nightcap when Ryan Schoonover led off with a single, went to second on Jordan Mullin's sacrifice bunt and scored on Luke Yost's single.
ASU answered right back with three runs in its initial at bat, then added three more in the second and one in the third to take a 7-1 lead.
UCO cut the deficit to 7-2 in the sixth when Arrow Cunningham doubled and eventually scored on Brady White's groundout, but the Rams countered with two runs in the seventh to make it 9-2 and coasted in the final two innings.
Schoonover and Yost had two hits apiece for the Bronchos, who were plagued by four errors in the contest.
