DMOND (Nov. 5) – Big blocks at the end of each set lifted Central Oklahoma to a clutch Lone Star Conference sweep of Cameron Thursday night at Hamilton Field House.

Solo rejections by Carly LeMay and Zuela Adom concluded the first two sets in giving the Bronchos consecutive 26-24 wins, then Taylor Summers and Courtney Whitlow teamed up for a block to wrap up a 25-23 third-set triumph that ended the match.

It was the fourth straight win for UCO, which improved to 15-15 on the year and 6-6 in the league as it fights for a top-eight finish and a berth in next week's LSC Tournament.  The Bronchos, who entered the night in a three-way tie for seventh, host Midwestern State at 7 p.m. Saturday in another key conference contest.

“We made some big-time plays when we really needed them and came out with a great win,” UCO coach Jeff Boyland said.   “We're playing well right now and hopefully we can come out Saturday and take care of business.”

Kristen Wilson hit .368 with a match-high 16 kills and added 11 digs to lead the Bronchos, who committed just one service error in the match.  Adom had 15 kills, eight digs and two blocks, Whitlow came up big with six blocks and four kills, Meaghan Wedberg and Morgan Roy had seven kills apiece and Ginger Gowen contributed a match-high 22 digs.

UCO trailed 20-14 in the first set before getting two kills from Adom and another from Roy in a 6-0 scoring run that tied it.  Cameron went back on top 23-21, but the Bronchos rallied to tie it a 24-all on a Wilson kill, went ahead on Adom's laser down the line and capped the comeback with LeMay's block in the middle.

It was another back-and-forth battle in the second set and UCO looked it good shape after taking a 21-17 lead on an Adom ace.  The Aggies surged back to draw even at 23 and 24 before Adom put it away, getting a kill to put the Bronchos ahead and then rejecting a CU attack to end it.

There were 16 ties and seven lead changes in the third set as the Aggies battled to stay alive in the match.   UCO trailed 23-22 before scoring the final three points to end the match, using an Adom kill, a CU error and the block by Summers and Whitlow to claim the victory.
