OKLAHOMA CITY – Central Oklahoma got on the water for its first official racing of the 2026-27 season Saturday.
The Bronchos put three boats on the water at the Oklahoma River. UCO's first Varsity 4+ boat finished eighth with a time of 17:33 and its second V4+ finished 11th with a time of 19:14.
In the Varsity 8+ races, UCO finished fifth with a time of 16:41. The Bronchos' two top boats lost only to shells from OU in both the fours and the eights.
"It was a good start for us," UCO head women's rowing coach Jules Lynch said. "It was going to be a measurement of where we are and where we need to be in the spring. We'll take this and learn from it, then get back to training and preparation for the next race."
Central Oklahoma is racing at Tulsa later this month and will also race at Wichita State in November.
The Bronchos compete in head racing in the fall and will concentrate on the 2,000-meter sprint racing in the spring championship season.
