Central Oklahoma Seniors Take Weekly Awards After Stellar Play

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma earned two of three MIAA Volleyball Athlete of the Week awards, the league announced Monday.

Mikiah Perdue was named MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week and Lindsey Houran was named MIAA Setter of the Week for the second time in three weeks this season. Both helped Central Oklahoma to a 5-0 week, leading the Bronchos to a 14-0 record as UCO wrapped up non-conference play.

Perdue was dominant on both offense and defense, leading the team from her middle blocker position. The Jenks, Oklahoma native recorded 16 blocks in five matches, including a four-block match against Southern Nazarene to end the week on Saturday. She leads the Bronchos with 45 blocks this season and averages 1.02 blocks per set. Perdue also had 57 kills this week, averaging 3.35 per set with a .303 hitting percentage.

Houran leads UCO as the captain on the floor and as one of the best setters in the country. The senior from Colleyville, Texas piled up 177 assists this week, 11.06 per set, as the Bronchos rolled through the competition. Houran dished out a season-high 48 against Texas Woman's on Tuesday night, and also had 39, 38, and 35 in three other matches. She had 17 in limited action as Central Oklahoma easily handled East Central on Thursday night.

Central Oklahoma is ranked No. 2 in the country and opens MIAA play this week at Newman and at Pittsburg State.
