Sydney Huck and Kaitlyn Parrott Named AVCA All-Americans

UCO Duo Both Named To Coaches' Association Second Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Central Oklahoma senior Sydney Huck and junior Kaitlyn Parrott were both named American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Americans in an announcement Wednesday morning.

Both were named Second Team All-Americans, with Huck occupying a post as an outside hitter and Parrott as a libero.

"We as coaches and our program are so proud of Sydney and Kaitlyn for this honor, it's a really big deal," UCO head volleyball coach Edgar Miraku said. "For Sydney to battle her way through injuries, not getting to play every night, and to be able to perform at the level of All-American is truly amazing.

"And for KP to step into the role of libero this season and do the same is very special," Miraku continued. "She's been a big part of our program for three years but she really stepped up for us this year. We are so proud of both of them and really happy for them to be recognized for their work."

Huck played in 25 of 33 matches this season and a total of 78 of 112 sets for the Bronchos. She still managed to land 306 kills this season, 3.92 per set, a mark that ranked No. 1 in the MIAA and 28th among all Division II players. She recorded a .258 hitting percentage this season.

A senior from McKinney, Texas, Huck recorded a season-high 21 kills against Northwest Missouri. She had double-digit kills in 18 of 25 matches this season and hit at least .300 in 10 matches played. Huck moved up to No. 7 in UCO history with 1,439 career kills.

Parrott ranks sixth in Division II this season with 643 digs and fifth in the country in digs per set (5.74). Her total digs are the 10th most in any season in UCO history. She also led the team with 47 service aces this season.

A junior from Allen, Texas, Parrott had three matches with 30 or more digs, including a season-high 36 at Nebraska Kearney in October. She ended the season with at least 20 digs in a match 16 times.

This season Huck became a four-time All-MIAA selection and she is just the third player in UCO history to earn First Team honors all four seasons. She was named MIAA Hitter of the Year this season and she became a two-time All-Region selection, bookending her career with that award she earned in 2022. That season, she was named both MIAA and Central Region Freshman of the Year.

Parrott earned all-conference honors for the first time in her three-year career this season. She was named MIAA Libero of the Year in addition to her First Team selection. She also earned All-Region honors for the first time.

Both Huck and Parrott were named First Team All-MIAA, First Team All-Region, and Second Team All-American this season. They are the 10th and 11th players to earn All-American honors in UCO history. Huck is the fourth outside hitter and Parrott is the fifth libero to earn the honors.

Central Oklahoma went 27-6 this season and finished fourth in the MIAA with a record of 12-4. The Bronchos advanced to the semifinals of the MIAA Volleyball Championship before earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship for the second consecutive season. The Bronchos were the No. 7 seed in the Central Region and lost in the regional quarterfinals.
