UCO Hosts MIAA/GAC Crossover

Central Oklahoma Welcomes Six Schools For Three Day Event At Hamilton Field House

EDMOND – No. 2 Central Oklahoma hosts the 2025 MIAA/GAC Crossover at Hamiton Field House with eight matches scheduled over the next three days.
 
The Bronchos are co-hosting the event with Oklahoma Baptist. Central Oklahoma will host MIAA members Emporia State and Fort Hays State, as well as Great American Conference members East Central, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene, and Southwestern Oklahoma State. UCO will play SWOSU Thursday at 11 a.m. and ECU Thursday at 7 p.m. The Bronchos will take on NWOSU Friday at 5 p.m. and wrap up the event against Southern Nazarene Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
UCO is 10-0 on the season and ranked No. 2 in the country. The Bronchos beat Texas Woman's 3-1 on Tuesday night leading into the conference crossover. It was the first match of the year to go four sets for the Bronchos, who won their first nine contests in 3-0 sweeps.
 
Central is 135-30 at Hamilton Field House under 14th-year head coach Edgar Miraku and has won 21 of its last 22 home matches. The Bronchos have won six in a row at home including two this season.
 
The Bronchos will be back on the road next week to open MIAA play. UCO plays at Newman Friday, Sept. 26 in Wichita, Kansas, and at Pittsburg State Saturday, Sept. 27 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
 
Central Oklahoma boasts a powerful attack that averages 14.5 kills per set through 10 games played this season. The Bronchos 10th in the country in kills per set, 11th in total kills (450), and hit .243 on average.
 
Kamryn Glover leads the team with 104 kills, 3.35 per set. The true freshman from Graford, Texas has six double-digit kill matches in 10 career appearances, including a season-high of 14 at St. Mary's last week. Glover has been named to both the Patriot Classic and Rattler Invitational All-Tournament Team.
 
Kedron Burk is second on the team with 93 kills, 3.0 per set. The senior from Edmond and Oral Roberts transfer also has six matches with at least 10 kills and her season-high is 15 against then-ranked No. 5 Ferris State on opening weekend.
 
Mikiah Perdue has 88 kills and the senior from Tulsa has a team-best .307 hitting percentage. Sydney Huck, a senior who has played in just 5 of 10 matches, has 43 kills, 3.31 per set.
 
Lindsey Houran makes it all happen. The senior setter from Colleyville, Texas has 336 assists this season and is averaging 11.6 per set. She dished out a season-high 48 on Tuesday night and reached the 40-assist mark in 51 career games. Houran also has 120 digs, second most on the team, and averages 4.14 per set. She adds eight blocks, two solo, to make her presence felt all over the floor.
 
Kaitlyn Parrott leads the back row with 199 digs, 6.42 per set. Riley Roberts has 108 digs, 3.48 per set. Perdue leads the team with 32 total blocks, 14 solo, and averages 1.03 per set. Burk has 19 blocks, Roberts 12, and Glover 11.
 
Southwestern Oklahoma State is off to a 2-6 start. The Bulldogs are paced by Paris Patterson, who has 82 kills (2.65/set), 46 digs, 14 blocks and four aces. Hailey Smith has added 75 kills (2.42/set), 33 blocks and 11 aces, with Sydnee Winfrey chipping in 68 kills (2.27/set), 42 blocks and six aces. The Bronchos have never lost to SWOSU, owning a 16-0 series lead.
 
East Central is 2-8 and beat Northwestern Oklahoma State Tuesday night the GAC opener for both squads. Peyton Spahn leads the Tigers with 90 kills, 2.65 per set, Faiana Halatoa has 84 kills, 2.21 per set, and Jayla Buford has 76 kills, 2.0 per set. Valentina Tijerina has a team-high 143 digs and Macey Goodwin has 104. UCO has a 19-2 lead in the series and is riding a 15-match winning streak over ECU.
 
Northwestern Oklahoma is 1-8 following Tuesday's road meeting with East Central. Ece Ozdemir tops the Rangers with 91 kills and Tess De Zanet has chipped in 84 kills. Jadyn Padilla leads the team with 101 digs. The Bronchos have a 6-0 advantage in a short series with NWOSU.
 
Southern Nazarene is 3-5 record following Tuesday's home match with Cameron. The Crimson Storm are paced by Kate Wright, who has 70 kills. Rayanna Mauldin has 61 kills. Five players are separated by five digs to lead the team. Sydney Marquez (53), Brelee Mauldin (52), Jasmine Liongco (51), Rayanna Mauldin (50), and Megan Branson (49) make up the well-rounded back end. UCO owns a big 32-10 lead in a series that started in 1987, though SNU won the last meeting in 2023.
