UCO Earns AVCA Academic Award

Central Oklahoma Earns 12th Consecutive AVCA Honor Roll Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Central Oklahoma's volleyball program once again earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT, with UCO also earning the additional distinction of AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, representing the top 20 percent of GPAs nationally by division.

This year marks the 12th consecutive year UCO has earned the team academic award.

"It's always an honor to be recognized," UCO head volleyball coach Edgar Miraku said. "Most people don't know the amount of work these young women put in both on the court and in the classroom. We are grateful to be recognized for that work."

The AVCA recognizes collegiate and high school volleyball teams maintained a year-long grade point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

UCO landed in the top 20 percent of Division II volleyball program GPAs, replicating the success the Bronchos found on the court this past season. Central Oklahoma went 33-3 in 2024, winning an MIAA championship and an NCAA Regional title. The Bronchos reached the national championship quarterfinals for the first time in school history.

Central Oklahoma begins the 2025 season with an exhibition match against Oral Roberts on Aug. 23 and will begin the official season Sept. 4 in Tyler, Texas.
