Jenna Karp Named Finalist For Ken B. Jones Award

Central Oklahoma Volleyball All-American In Running For MIAA's Top Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jenna Karp was named a finalist for the Ken B. Jones Award, presented by Summit Pointe Financial Group, the MIAA announced Tuesday.

The award recognizes the top male and female student-athletes in the association. Each of the 14 member schools had the opportunity to nominate one male and one female student-athlete. Karp was selected as one of five female finalists.

"We are very happy for Jenna," UCO head volleyball coach Edgar Miraku said. "She did so much for our program every year, but this past season especially. Our captain, an All-American, she led us to our best season ever. She deserves it after all the work she's put in."

A committee made up of a rep from each of the 14 MIAA institutions votes based on athletic achievement, academic accomplishments, and community service involvement.

During her senior season, Karp led Central to its best season in school history, going 33-3. The Bronchos won the MIAA Volleyball Championship and the NCAA Central Regional Championship, winning six straight postseason games in two weekends. Karp was named an AVCA All-American (Third Team). She was also First Team All-MIAA and was named to the MIAA's Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team. Karp is the sixth player in school history to earn four All-MIAA honors.

On the academic side, Karp graduated earlier this month with her bachelor's degree. She double majored in forensic molecular biology and biomedical science and was named to the UCO President's Honor Roll (4x), Dean's Honor Roll (2x), MIAA Academic Excellence (3x), and the MIAA Honor Roll (4x).

Karp spent much of her time away from volleyball and the classroom serving in the community. She is a member of the President's Leadership Council, Delta Delta Epsilon Forensic Science Honor Society, and the Student Mobilization Organization. Karp also served as a Research Assistant in the Biology Department, a City Care Shelter volunteer, Wings Edmond volunteer, and a UCO Big Event volunteer. She served as an OKC Marathon volunteer, UCO Involvement Center volunteer, as well as a UCO pantry volunteer.

All finalists will be recognized at the 2025 MIAA Awards Celebration on Monday, June 2 at the Nelson Atkins Museum Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The Ken B. Jones award winners will also be announced at the awards celebration.
