Caden Robertson Named Central Region Player of the Year

UCO Outfielder Earns NCBWA Honor, Named First Team Along With Teammate Dax Sharp

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Central Oklahoma senior outfielder Caden Robertson was named Central Region Player of the Year by the National College Baseball Writers Association, it was announced Friday.
 
Robertson was a First Team All-Region pick in addition to being named Player of the Year. He earned the same honors from the MIAA following the regular season last week. Robertson is the sixth UCO baseball player to be named Regional Player of the Year and first since 2014.
 
Dax Sharp was also named First Team All-Region as a starting pitcher.
 
Robertson is hitting .361 this season, leading UCO with 75 hits, 19 doubles, 23 home runs, four triples, 76 RBIs and 171 total bases. The senior from Magnolia, Texas has a 1.251 OPS, an .822 slugging percentage, and a .429 on-base percentage. His 23 home runs is tied for most in a season in UCO history.
 
Sharp leads UCO with a 1.88 ERA and has a 7-2 record on the mound this season. The senior from Pryor, Oklahoma has thrown 62.1 innings this season and opponents only hit .205 against him. Sharp's WHIP is a 1.01 through 12 appearances.
 
UCO is in the Central Regional and playing Harding at 2 p.m. in an elimination game. The Bronchos need to win to reach the consolation final Saturday afternoon.
