UCO Listed In First NCAA Regional Field

Bronchos Are 20-3 With Two Weeks Left In Regular Season

INDIANAPOLIS – Central Oklahoma is among 10 teams "under consideration" for the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship according to the regional rankings announced Wednesday.

The NCAA releases three sets of rankings ahead of the official selection show later this month. The first rankings show 10 teams listed alphabetically as under consideration. The following two rankings will be listed according to rank. The top eight teams make the regional tournaments next month.

The NCAA Central Region is made up of teams from the MIAA, the Great American Conference and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. In Wednesday's listing, six MIAA programs appear and the other four are from the NSIC. Each of the three conference champions receive an automatic qualification to the regional and five more at-large bids are awarded.

Central Oklahoma won the MIAA title last season and earned the No. 2 seed in the Central Region. UCO won that tournament for the first time in school history to advance to the national quarterfinals.

This season, UCO is 23-3 with two weeks remaining. The Bronchos host Newman and Pittsburg State this week in Edmond and will travel to Emporia State and Washburn next week to wrap up the regular season. The MIAA Volleyball Championship is scheduled for Nov. 20-22 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
