Lindsey Houran, Mikiah Perdue Earn MIAA Honors

Central Oklahoma's Senior Duo Led Bronchos To Sweeping Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma seniors Lindsey Houran and Mikiah Perdue were both recognized with MIAA honors Monday.
 
Houran was named MIAA Setter of the Week and Perdue MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week. It's the third time this season that Houran has earned the honor. Perdue has twice been named MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week (Week 2 & Week 3). Monday is the first Offensive award for the senior middle blocker.
 
Central Oklahoma beat Arkansas Fort Smith twice last week. The Bronchos won 3-0 in Arkansas on Wednesday night and 3-0 in Edmond on Saturday afternoon. The Bronchos improved to 21-3 on the season and are 7-3 in MIAA play.
 
Houran led the Broncho offense that averaged 16.1 kills per set this week. She dished out 79 assists in six sets, 13.17 per set. The senior from Colleyville, Texas had 36 assists on Wednesday night and 43 on Saturday afternoon. The latter is a season-high for a three-set match for Houran.
 
Houran has 891 total assists this season, which leads the MIAA and ranks eighth nationally. Her 11.72 assists per set leads the league and is the third-best rate in the country.
 
Perdue was a big part of that offense, landing 23 kills in two matches. She averaged 3.83 kills per set and hit a blistering .392 on 51 total attacks, only committing three errors on the week. The senior from Jenks, Oklahoma landed 13 kills Wednesday night, hitting .407, and had 10 kills on Saturday while hitting .375 with only one error. She also added four blocks on the week, all at Fort Smith on Wednesday night.
 
Perdue has a team-high 233 kills this season and ranks fourth in the MIAA. With 2.95 kills per set and 0.92 blocks per set, Perdue ranks fifth in the MIAA in points per set.
 
Central Oklahoma has six games left in the regular season, with four away from Edmond. The Bronchos travel to Warrensburg, Missouri for a matchup with Central Missouri this Friday night and will play Missouri Southern in Joplin on Saturday afternoon.
 
UCO hosts Newman on Nov. 6 and Pittsburg State on Nov. 7 in the final two home games of the season, with the Newman contest the game Houran, Perdue, and four other seniors will be honored pregame. Central finishes the regular season at Emporia State on Nov. 13 and at Washburn on Nov. 14.
