Sydney Huck and Lindsey Houran Take MIAA Honors

Central Oklahoma Juniors Named MIAA Players of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma juniors Sydney Huck and Lindsey Houran were honored as MIAA Players of the Week following standout performances by the duo this past week.

UCO went 5-0 last week, winning a non-conference game at Oklahoma Baptist before going 4-for-4 at the Flagler Saints Classic in St. Augustine, Florida. The Bronchos beat Flagler, Embry-Riddle, Nova Southeastern, and Trevecca Nazarene. Central swept 4 of 5 opponents 3-0 and won all matches a combined 15 sets to 1.

Houran was named MIAA Setter of the Week for the first time this season after another impressive outing. The junior from Colleyville, Texas dished out 198 assists in five matches, averaging 12.38 per set over 16 total sets played. Houran had 51 assists against Embry-Riddle and totaled at least 33 in all five matches.

Huck was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week also for the first time this season. The junior from McKinney, Texas landed 57 kills in five matches, and average of 3.80 per set over 15 total sets played. Huck only played 2 of 3 sets against Trevecca Nazarene and only played on the back row. Her 57 kills truly came in 13 sets. She hit .342 for the week.

Central Oklahoma is 9-0 this season and will make its home debut this week at Hamilton Field House. The Bronchos are co-hosting an MIAA/GAC crossover event that brings six teams to Edmond. UCO will play Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, Oklahoma Baptist and East Central on Friday, and then Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday.
