Jenna Karp, Addison Wimmer Collect AVCA All-Region Nods

Central Oklahoma Duo Led Team To MIAA Championship, No. 2 Seed In National Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Central Oklahoma had two standout student-athletes named First Team All-Region Wednesday with the release of the American Volleyball Coaches Association's postseason honors.
 
Jenna Karp was tabbed First Team All-Region in the Central Region as was Addison Wimmer, who also earned the same honor from the D2CAA.
 
The duo has led Central Oklahoma to a 30-2 record this season, the MIAA Volleyball Championship title, and the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship Central Region, which begins play Thursday in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
 
Karp became the sixth player in UCO history to be named all-conference four times in her career. She earned First Team honors following the regular season. The senior middle blocker from Spring, Texas leads UCO with 305 kills, 3.08 per set, and a punishing .367 hitting percentage.
 
Karp has played in 29 of 32 matches this season and leads the defense too with 77 blocks this season, including 15 solo denials. Karp averages 3.75 points per set.
 
Wimmer, who was named MIAA Player of the Year, is also a four-time all-conference pick though the first two were at her previous school Northwestern Oklahoma State. In two years with the Bronchos, she earned two All-MIAA awards including Player of the Year this season.
 
Wimmer has a team-high 355 kills, averaging 3.51 per set through 32 matches played (31 starts). Wimmer hits .240 and averages 3.90 points per set as she also plays a big role on defense. She has 38.0 blocks this season including eight solo, and also has 258 digs (2.55 per set).
 
Central Oklahoma has 14 players that have earned All-Region honors a combined 20 times since 1994. Wimmer and Karp are the eighth and ninth selected under current head coach Edgar Miraku.
