LEXINGTON, Ky. – Central Oklahoma's historic 2024 volleyball season ended with the Bronchos finishing sixth in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll Division II poll.
UCO won a school-record 33 matches, finishing 33-3. The Bronchos of 12th-year head coach Edgar Miraku captured the first MIAA Tournament and Central Region Tournament championships in school history to earn a trip to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship national quarterfinals.
National champion Lynn topped the final rankings, followed by runner-up San Francisco State – the team that eliminated UCO in five sets in the national quarterfinals. Ferris State, which suffered its only loss of the season in the quarterfinals, was third followed by Angelo State, St. Cloud State and the Bronchos.
UCO defeated the two teams that ended up just in front of them this season, both on the road. The Bronchos won at Angelo early in the year and upended the Huskies on their home court in the Central Regional finals.
"I'm really proud of the girls for all the hard work they put in this season to enable us to achieve the success we did," Miraku said. "It was a long season, but they showed a lot of persistence throughout and came through with some big wins in tough situations."
Central losses five seniors off the squad – All-Americans Jenna Karp and Addison Wimmer along with Brynn Egger, Katie Le, and Mikaela Garvin. The Bronchos will return three starters – First-Team All-MIAA performers Lindsey Houran and Sydney Huck along with Honorable Mention All-MIAA selection Lari Migliorino.
