Jordan Wilson Named MIAA Golfer of the Week

Broncho Senior Led Team To Third Title Of Fall, Won Individual Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma senior Jordan Wilson was named MIAA Men's Golfer of the Week following his win at the Dallas Baptist Classic on Tuesday.

Wilson, who played at Edmond North, won his first career tournament. The local standout had finished runner up in five of his first 11 tournaments since transferring from Oklahoma State midway through his junior season.

Tuesday in Rockwall, Texas, Wilson finished the 54-hole DBU Classic 2-under par to take top honors against competition that included Baylor, TCU, and SMU, as well as four nationally ranked Division II schools including UT Tyler, Henderson State, Dallas Baptist, and Midwestern State.

Wilson played the Par 5s in Texas 9-under this week, better than anyone in the field. And he also sank 16 birdie putts, more than another other player in the field.

His 2-under-par 214 was two shots better than the runner-up – his teammate Bennett Baldwin. UCO also had Karsten Paciotti finish fourth.

In four tournaments this fall, Wilson has a 69.9 scoring average through 12 rounds of golf. He has nine rounds of par or better through 12 rounds.

UCO wrapped up its fall season with the DBU Classic this week. The Bronchos won three tournaments this fall and finished runner-up at another. Wins include The Mule at Central Missouri and the Regional Preview at Missouri Western in addition to this week's win in Texas. UCO took second at Washburn's Ichabod Invitational and eighth at the weather-shortened National Preview in Florida.

Central Oklahoma returns in February with the Houston Classic. The Bronchos will play four spring events before the MIAA Championships in April.
