Bronchos Win Pitt State Tournament

Central Oklahoma Earns Fourth Win Of The Season At Crestwood

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Oklahoma won its fourth tournament of the season Tuesday when the Bronchos took top honors at Pittsburg State's Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational at Crestwood Country Club.
 
UCO finished with a 54-hole score 890, following Monday's rounds of 297 and 300 with a 293 on Tuesday. Central's 5-over par team score in the final round was the best of the tournament among 18 teams.
 
Washburn finished second, seven shots behind the Bronchos at 897. Central Missouri (908), Winona State (909), and host Pitt State (915) rounded out the top five.
 
Rhett Hughes led Central Oklahoma in finishing runner-up in the individual standings. The sophomore had back-to-back rounds of 1-over-par 73 on Monday and led the field entering Tuesday's final round. He shot a 2-over 74 and lost by one stroke.
 
Hughes started the day with a bogey on No. 1 and was 2-over after four holes, but he got one back with a birdie on No. 8 and was still 1-over going to 11 on the back nine. He bogeyed No. 11 and No. 12 but then played the final six holes 1-under with a birdie coming on No. 17 to get to 74 for the day.
 
Nick Canales finished tied for sixth individually with a 9-over-par 225 for the tournament. After rounds of 75 and 74 on Monday, the junior shot a 4-over 76 on Tuesday. He sank birdie putts on No. 10 and No. 16.
 
Karsten Paciotti, who started the day outside the Top 50, shot up the leaderboard with a 3-under-par 69 in Tuesday's final round to finish tied for 11th overall. The senior from Katy, Texas had the best round of any golfer this week and he started his day with a bogey.
 
Paciotti began the day on the Par 4 fourth but he got back to even with a birdie on No. 8. He was 1-under after another birdie on No. 10, then even again after a bogey on No. 12. Paciotti then caught fire for a moment, with a birdie-eagle-birdie line on No. 16, 17, and 18. He was 4-under turning back to the front nine and bogeyed No. 1 before finishing with a pair of pars to record the 3-under 69.
 
Baylor Bostick also finished tied for 11th alongside Paciotti. The junior from Duncan, Bostick started with a 73 and 78 on Monday and then finished with a 4-over 76 on Tuesday, including one birdie on the day.
 
Ty Hyatt was UCO's fifth and shot a 14-over 230 (76-80-74). Andrew Talburt competed as an individual and finished 15th with a 12-over 228 (72-78-78).
 
Central Oklahoma is back on the course next week with Washburn's Firekeeper Invitational in Mayetta, Kansas. That's the final tournament of the regular season.
 
The 2026 MIAA Men's Golf Championships are April 13-15 in Jefferson City, Missouri and the NCAA Regional Championships are May 7-9 in Big Rapids, Michigan. This year's national tournament will be held May 18-22 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
