UCO Hosts Oklahoma Baptist

Central Oklahoma Wraps Up Three-Game Homestand In Match With Bison

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma wraps up an early season homestand Saturday night when the Bronchos host Oklahoma Baptist in a non-conference match at Tom Thompson Field.

UCO (1-0-2) is unbeaten in three matches to the start the season. Oklahoma Baptist (0-3-0) has not won in its first three matches.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

"We're looking to build off a good week and finish strong," UCO head soccer coach Mike Cook said. "We had a good midweek match and we want to show some consistency now and get some momentum going."

UCO played Angelo State and Midwestern State to ties in the first week of the 2023 season. Earlier this week, the Bronchos dismantled Southwestern Oklahoma State, 4-1. Central took two more shots in the win over SWOSU than it did in both of the games in Week 1 combined.

In three matches for the Bronchos, seven different players have scored eight total goals. Elena Conaway scored her first and second career goal in Wednesday's win over Southwestern Oklahoma State. Emma Nicholas and Matilda Torres also scored against SWOSU.

Albany Adair, Jaci Decker, and Amaya Grace all scored at Angelo and Izzy Van Zanten scored against Midwestern State.

UCO has assisted on almost half of its eight goals. The Bronchos have taken 28 total shots with 13 shots on goal in three games.

Defensively, Central has given up five goals in three games. After three in the opener, UCO has given up one goal in each of the past two games.

Caroline Faulkner started and played all 90 minutes in each of the past two games. She's made six saves. Avery Bass played all 90 in the opener and made five saves.

Oklahoma Baptist is off to an 0-3-0 start. The Bison have not scored yet this season and have allowed 11 goals in three games.

Central Oklahoma will not play out of conference the rest of the season. The Bronchos face Newman, Northeastern State, and Rogers State next week in non-conference matches before beginning UCO's 11-game MIAA schedule. UCO is home against NSU in those upcoming matches.
