UCO Visits Pitt State Monday

Central Oklahoma opens a three-match Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association road-trip Monday when the Bronchos go to Pittsburg, Kan. for a 6 p.m. meeting with Pittsburg State.

UCO is 15-1 on the season and 5-1 in the league, while the Gorillas are 9-6 and 3-3. The Bronchos swept PSU at home on Sept. 9 to start conference play (25-20, 27-25, 25-21).

"We had a tough match with Pitt the first time and it will be even harder this time since it's on the road," head coach Edgar Miraku said. "They've got a good team and we'll have to play well."

UCO travels to No. 17-ranked Central Missouri Friday before finishing the road trip Saturday at Missouri Western.

ABOUT THE BRONCHOS: UCO is tied for the MIAA lead with No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney and No. 11 Northwest Missouri, with UNK having handed the Bronchos their lone loss.

UCO knocked off No. 6 Washburn – last year's NCAA Division II national runner-up – in four sets at home last week before sweeping Emporia State then next day.

The Bronchos had a .336 attack percentage in those two matches, with freshman Lari Migliorino hitting .684 (13 kills in 19 attacks with no errors).

Freshman Sydney Huck continues to lead the league in kills (4.39/set) and points (4.99/set). She's hitting .302 with 246 kills on the season to go long with 158 digs, 28 blocks and 17 service aces.

Rookie Lindsey Houran tops the MIAA in assists (11.48/set), having racked up 689 already. She also has 158 digs and 50 kills.

Sophomore Jaedynn Evans is the runaway conference leader in digs with 392 (6.53/set).

Sophomore Jenna Karp ranks ninth in the league in attack percentage (.313 with 135 kills) and sophomore Mallorie Koehn is 10th in kills (2.95/set, 162 total).

ABOUT THE GORILLAS: Pittsburg State swept Missouri Southern in its last outing to even its conference record at 3-3.

The Gorillas are led offensively by Janae Thurston (144 kills) and Meg Auten (114 kills). Brianna Richard ranks second in the MIAA in assists (10.77/set) and Marissa Bates is second in digs (5.7/set).

UCO owns a 23-7 lead in the series.
