Volleyball Program Earns Multiple Academic Awards

Central Oklahoma Received Ninth Consecutive Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Monday the University of Central Oklahoma earned the Team Academic Award.

Central Oklahoma earned the award, which honors teams for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher. It's the ninth consecutive year.

"I'm proud of the team for all the hard work they did to accomplish this," UCO head coach Edgar Miraku said. "To balance schoolwork with competing at this level, traveling, training and practice, it's a grind. The team did a great job, and they deserve to be recognized."

In addition to the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, Central Oklahoma also earned a spot on the NCAA Division II Women's Team Academic Award Honor Roll. The represents the top 20 percent of team GPAs in each division.
