Lawson Isaacs Named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards and UCO senior Lawson Isaacs was named National Pitcher of the Week.

Isaacs pitched a perfect game in Central Oklahoma's 12-0 victory against Fort Hays State on Sunday. The senior right-hander from Edmond, Oklahoma retired in order each of the 21 batters he faced in Hays, Kansas.

Isaacs struck out five batters, got five more groundouts and 11 flyouts in the game.

It is just the 28th perfect game in NCAA Division II history, just the second ever in the MIAA and the first ever at Central.

Isaacs is also the first pitcher in the MIAA to receive this national award this season.

Central Oklahoma is at home this weekend to take on Newman in a three-game MIAA series. The Bronchos open Friday at 6 p.m. at Wendell Simmons Field and are also scheduled to play Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
