Bronchos Visiting ECU Tuesday

ADA, Okla. – The UCO baseball team visits East Central Tuesday for a non-conference matchup with its longtime in-state opponent. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Central Oklahoma is 3-3 this season after two weekends of play. East Central is 1-5.

"Our guys have a done good job battling as we're figuring out what works best right now," UCO head baseball coach John Martin said. "We're getting going with every day and just need to keep getting better every day."

UCO took two of three on opening weekend at the Edmond First Pitch Classic, beating Oklahoma Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma State. UCO picked up one win in Denver, Colorado this past weekend at Metro State.

East Central was swept by Southeastern Oklahoma State in Texas to start the season and then lost two of three to Newman this past weekend in Ada.

The Bronchos are averaging five runs per game after six games played. UCO averages 7.5 hits per game.

Landen Wood has led Central at the plate through two weeks of play. The junior outfielder and left-handed batter has a .571/.609/.571 line after six games played. He's a combined 12-for-21 at the plate. All 12 of his hits have been single-base knocks.

Clayton Peterson and Shane Nixon are both hitting .273, with both 6-for-22 at the plate. Garrett Takamatsu has five hits in 22 at bats for a .227 average. He leads the team with three home runs. One of Peterson's hits is a homer and one of Nixon's is a double.

Austin Lambert (3-for-21) also has a home run. Jaden Parsons and Kaleb Glass both have one double each this season and the two also have one triple each.

Central Oklahoma has 10 extra-base hits of 48 total hits in six games.

The Broncho pitching staff heads to Ada with a 6.88 team earned run average. The Bronchos have given up 45 runs in six games, an average of 7.2 per contest. Opponents are hitting .252 against UCO. Central does have 72 strikeouts in six games, an average of an even 12 per game.

Kyler Patterson and Ethan Wayland have kept runs off the board during their time on the bump. Patterson has six strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings of work out of the bullpen and Wayland has four Ks in 1 2/3 innings.

Beaux Bonvillain has a 1.93 ERA in 4 2/3 innings of work out of the bullpen. He has seven strikeouts. Jase Farmer has a 2.25 ERA in four innings of work and also has seven strikeouts.

Lawson Isaacs is the third reliever to throw 4 2/3 innings. He has eight strikeouts and a 3.86 ERA.

Central Oklahoma is coming off a trip to Denver. The Bronchos played a doubleheader Sunday before traveling 10 hours back home. Following Tuesday's shorter trip to Ada, UCO is scheduled to host Southern Nazarene Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Wendell Simmons Field before taking this upcoming weekend off.
