Five Bronchos Named To All-MIAA Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 9) – Five Central Oklahoma players earned recognition on the All-MIAA Volleyball Teams that were announced Wednesday, highlighted by Sydney Huck's selection as Freshman of the Year.

Huck was joined on the first-team unit by sophomores Jaedynn Evans and Jenna Karp, while freshman Lindsey Houran and sophomore Mallorie Koehn were named to the second team. It's the most All-MIAA picks for the Bronchos since six players were selected in 2016.

Huck has enjoyed a spectacular rookie season, having recorded 420 kills for a 3.96 per-set average that tops the league. The hard-hitting outside hitter has had 10 matches with 20-plus kills, which ranks as the fifth-best single-season total in school history.

Evans leads NCAA Division II in both total digs (734) and digs per set (6.55) from her libero spot. The defensive ace has 16 matches with 25-plus digs and her 734 total ranks fifth on UCO's single-season list.

Karp, a second-team All-MIAA pick last season, has been a dominant force at the net this season. She's hitting a team-high .340 with 277 kills to go along with a team-leading 82 blocks.

Houran has spearheaded UCO's potent offense from her setter post, having piled up a Division II-leading 1,339 assists. The rookie standout has added 92 kills, 294 digs, 27 service aces and 26 blocks.

Koehn has been a key offensive force for the Bronchos at outside hitter this season, having racked up 309 kills to go along with a team-leading 35 aces and 166 digs. She's had 15 matches with double-digit kills.

No. 21-ranked UCO (24-6) opens play in the MIAA Volleyball Championship at 7:30 p.m. Thursday when the Bronchos take on No. 20 Washburn in a first-round showdown in St. Joseph, Mo.
