Volleyball Announces 2021 Schedule

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma volleyball team announced its 2021 schedule with the Bronchos returning to their traditional fall slate following last year's canceled season.

Central Oklahoma is scheduled to open the 2021 season Friday, Sept. 3 with a pair of matches in Durant, Oklahoma at the Southeastern Oklahoma State Classic. UCO will also play a pair of matches there Saturday, Sept. 4.

The 2021 home opener for the Bronchos is scheduled for the following weekend. UCO is hosting a two-day event at Hamilton Field House and will play two matches each Friday, Sept. 10 and Saturday, Sept. 11.

The 28-match schedule includes an even 14 home contests and 14 road or neutral contests. UCO will also return to the 20-match MIAA schedule beginning Sept. 17 at Pittsburg State. The final regular season match is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 9 with an MIAA competition against Central Missouri at Hamilton Field House.

Edgar Miraku enters his 10th year leading the Bronchos in 2021. He has a 200-68 all-time coaching record at Central, including five 25-win seasons and two 30-win seasons. The 2015 MIAA Champions, UCO has competed in each of the MIAA postseason tournaments held since joining the league in 2012.

Central Oklahoma did not have the opportunity to compete in its 2020 fall season due to the pandemic. The Bronchos did play in an organized spring season earlier this year and UCO won 13 matches with the results unofficial.

Central returns 10 from last year's squad and seven from the 2019 group that last played an official match for the Bronchos. Led by All-MIAA selections Amanda Desch and Courtney Lane, UCO also returns veterans Alycia Bradley-Adriano and Lauren Jenkins and a group of experienced youngsters in Nalani McCrary, Bella Burns and Elena Garcia. Freshmen Payton Bell and Mallory Hendrix also are back with experience after a unique first year on campus in 2020-21. Miraku added several newcomers to the 2021 roster.
