TOPEKA, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma volleyball team beat Fort Hays State 3-1 Friday in the opening round of the 2021 MIAA Spring Volleyball Tournament.
Central led handily through the first and second sets. The Bronchos picked up a 25-17 win in the opener before winning 25-16 in the second set.
The Bronchos held a lead heading toward the end of the third set before more than half a dozen ties extended the match. Fort Hays came away in the end with a 29-27 win to force a fourth set.
Central Oklahoma built an early lead in the fourth and never looked back in working to a 25-19 victory to take the match, 3-1.
Central Oklahoma is scheduled to play Missouri Southern at 3 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Spring Volleyball Tournament.
