Central Topples Hornets

EMPORIA, Kan. (March 20) -- Courtney Lane knocked down 20 kills to lead Central Oklahoma past Emporia State in the spring volleyball action Saturday afternoon at White Auditorium.

Edgar Miraku's Bronchos claimed a four-set victory, winning 25-17, 25-21, 32-34, 25-18 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association contest. UCO swept the season series from the Hornets, winning in three sets two weeks ago in Edmond.

Lane added three blocks to her 20-kill outing, while Payton Bell registered 10 kills to go along with three blocks. Lauren Jenkins chipped in nine kills and Mallory Hendrix had eight.

Amanda Desch had another stellar all-around match for UCO, collecting 42 assists, 22 digs and six kills. The Bronchos also got a fine defensive performance from Bella Burns, who came up with 34 digs.

Central is now 9-4 for the spring and has just four regularly scheduled matches remaining The Bronchos go to Wichita, Kan. Wednesday to take on Newman at 6 p.m.
