Central Oklahoma Comes Up Short In Game 2

JOPLIN, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team let Game 2 get away Saturday in a 12-5 loss at Missouri Southern. Game 3 followed Saturday evening.
 
Garrett Takamatsu hit a solo home run to tie the game 1-1 in the top of the second and Philip Scott, who followed with a ground-rule double, scored on a Cacy Harper single to give the Bronchos an early 2-1 lead.
 
In the third, after Joe Mondragon drew a one-out walk, Kyle Crowl hit a home run. His shot tied the game 4-4 after MSSU had pulled back in front in the bottom of the second. UCO only scored again in the top of the eighth on another Crowl home run. The second one made it 7-5. MSSU plated five more runs in the bottom half of the eighth to make it 12-7.
 
Crowl finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Scott was also 2-for-4 with one run. Ryan Harrel was the third Broncho with a multi-hit game. He went 2-for-4.
 
Takamatsu finished 1-for-2 with the homer. Colton Bertus and Harper both had one hit each.
 
Kyler Patterson got the start for Central and took the loss. He threw 3 2/3 innings, allowed eight hits and seven runs, and walked one batter. Patterson didn't record a strikeout.
 
Colton Croft threw 2 1/3 innings of relief work and allowed two hits and two strikeouts. Jake Terry, 1 1/3, allowed two runs and two walks. Brady Smith gave up one run on one hit and one walk. And Lawson Isaacs gave up two runs on two hits.
